Ride IQ: Clarity

DQ: Deception Quotient

67“Morality has nothing to do with the sport’s poetry. It need not inspire good behavior, and its participants are not role models. Entertainment and action are separate from what’s good for society.”  Self-Deceived Blogger in defense of disqualified rider

Praying for safety AND moral clarity is smart

Intelligence cannot be compartmentalized from Morality. Smart cycling uses brains to make quick competitive decisions. It employs the latest research, technologies, and testing methodologies. It utilizes skill mastery, experience, intuition, and situational awareness. It exercises good judgment. More than ever, it must think clearly, live transparently, and behave without deception.

Deception is an evil attacking the peloton. Deception brags that its programs are clean when in fact its monitors are paid off. Deception blames others when its sophisticated, systematic deceits are discovered. Deception announces unprecedented agreement while hatred remains in the heart. Deception implements an agenda planned by consensus with no intention of fulfilling terms in favor of all involved. Deception pretends not to have the money for a particular rider but then makes an offer to a more expensive one. Deception hoards resources distributing little of what’s promised. Deception claims all sorts of reasons for poor results and doesn’t face facts. Deception publishes innuendo, rumor, and inflammatory statements hoping for the big story in response. Deception defames another’s character based on hearsay and second-hand perception ignoring personal experience or private discussion. Deception believes its own lie in its superiority to everyone else.

DQ ordinarily stands for Disqualified because a rule was broken. Now Deception Quotient is a way to Disqualify oneself from peaceful and prosperous living. Plenty of rules are being broken though some may not be in an official race rulebook. Sadly, deception decides on a selfish form of truth that hurts many during its fleeting existence. Fortunately, deception’s time is short.

Prayer for Clarity
“Strength and success belong to God; both deceived and deceiver must answer to him: He strips experts of their vaunted credentials, exposes judges as witless fools; He dumps contempt on famous people, disarms the strong and mighty; He shines a spotlight into caves of darkness, hauls deepest darkness into the noonday sun.” 68Job 12:13-22

We ask mercy on deceivers when falsehood is revealed.

Ponder Am I completely clear with myself and others? Affirm I want a clean heart, a clear conscience. Watch tumbleweeds entangle in your spokes when riding toward that dead-end place in a desert called Deception.
